Randwick Equine Centre made its name by providing the very best care for racehorses, primarily in the Sydney metropolitan area. We have veterinarians on track every morning, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, at all three of the major training centres in Sydney (Randwick, Rosehill and Warwick Farm).
With routine examinations as determined by the trainers and their staff, as well as giving advice on all aspect of management of elite equine athletes, the experienced REC vets are available to help maximise performance as well as diagnose and treat problems when they arise.
We have a full range of state of the art mobile imaging (endoscopy, radiography, ultrasonography) including dynamic respiratory endoscopy which allows full and accurate assessment of the horse’s larynx (throat) when it matters – at high speed on the track.
We also have our own laboratory (Equine Diagnostic Laboratories) to provide prompt routine blood sample results as well as to assess and diagnose illness. The practice founder, Dr Percy Sykes was the first veterinarian in the world to utilise routine blood sampling to assist trainers and so we have unparalleled experience in this field.
As with all areas of the practice, we have a collaborative approach to the assessment and treatment of racehorses and track-based services are backed up by the state of the art facilities at our Randwick hospital and a range of registered specialists in surgery and medicine.
Whilst thoroughbreds make up most of our client base in this area, we are also available to provide the same expert services to the harness racing industry in the greater Sydney region.
