Internship - Randwick Equine Centre 2016
Kate grew up in the Hawkesbury region of NSW where she spent much of her free time riding competitively, working on her family’s Standardbred enterprise, and learning the ropes from her father (who is also an equine vet). After graduating from The University of Sydney in 2010 with a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience (Honours), Kate made the move to Wagga Wagga NSW to pursue her interest in becoming a large animal veterinarian, studying veterinary science at Charles Sturt University. During her time at vet school Kate’s interest in equine performance and sports medicine continued to develop, and in her final year she completed an honours project in equine respiratory medicine evaluating the bronchopulmonary pharmacokinetics of salbutamol in horses. Kate is thrilled to be undertaking an internship with REC, and her primary interest is investigating and managing poor performance in both racing and performance horses.
