Rachel grew up on a farm in the south of England. She owned horses and rode competitively from an early age, with a particular interest in eventing. She completed a degree in neuroscience at Edinburgh University before going to vet school at the Royal Veterinary College in London. During this time she developed a keen interest in the horse racing industry and spent time in Newmarket and Lambourn. After finishing vet school Rachel moved to Sydney and spent a year as an intern at REC, before staying on as an associate. She now splits her time between racetrack work at Randwick and performance horse lameness, medicine and rehabilitation in the greater Sydney region. Rachel's main areas of interest are lameness, ultrasonography, respiratory and cardiac medicine. She has recently successfully completed a residency and is now a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
